President’s Message

The Spring Fling/GM Thing at Historic Smithville was a great event. The show was sponsored by Boardwalk Corvettes and they did an outstanding job of it. The weather was perfect and the Dennerys claimed a spot under some shady trees for our club to set up chairs. We had a good turn out which included member Bob McConnell who we hadn’t seen in awhile. Bob has a very nice Lagoon Aqua ’64 Impala Sport Coupe which took home a trophy. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard my name called for the “Cool Convertible” trophy for my Crocus Cream ’60. Best of all, our club won a $100.00 cash prize for “Best Club Participation”. When I saw the flyer for this show I thought it would be a good event for the club as there would be cars plus restaurants, lots of shops and stuff for the kids. Let’s plan on doing that again next year. There were 3 Late greats there who did not belong to our club yet; a ’64 Impala, a ’60 Bel Air Sport Coupe and a ’59 Impala convertible. Maybe they’ll join us for next year.

The July meeting/event will be held at Al Bernotas’ son’s Brian’s garage. This should be fun and the club will be supplying free pizza and soft drinks! You can bring your own beverages if you prefer. Check out the schedule and mark your calendars for August and September. John and Dawn Dennery are hosting a picnic at their home on August 10th with the following day as a rain date. September will be up north for an informative event featuring the Morris Canal. Details will be forthcoming.

As always, please give me a call if you are planning to attend any of our events so you can be contacted in the event of any last minute changes.

So let’s get these old Chevys out on the road and have some fun.

Mike
