October 2011
President’s Message
Summer has now
ended, and yet the rain hasn’t stopped. I’m wondering about trading in my Chevy
for a Boat. It’s been quite a wet season, not leaving much time for cruising
around in an old car. I hope you all have found time and enjoyed a ride or two
in your old Chevy. Hopefully autumn will improve weather-wise and we’ll get
to enjoy the seasonal color change from a ring side seat in an old car.
At our last club
meeting we enjoyed a visit from Jody Anderson, the head of the NIA. He was very
pleased to be with us, and enjoyed the opportunity to meet some of our members.
There was a lot of discussion regarding the 012 Convention sites, which will
be the Mt Laurel Wyndham Hotel, located on Rt73 in South western New Jersey.
Jody visited this and other sites and selected this particular site while he
was here, based on their willingness to accommodate this event. The Co-Chairmen
for this 012 Convention will be Mike Berry and John Lucas. Dawn Dennery has
been very busy supporting this event as well; she escorted Jody to some of the
Hotels and later she and John Dennery took him out to dinner. Dawn has also
drafted an event flyer that can be placed out at upcoming car events. We are
moving along on this event, but we need your help to plan and manage it. Last
winter, Mike Berry solicited the membership seeking volunteers for the varied
events involved. I am certain he and John Lucas will be contacting folks to
help out. If we want this event to succeed, now is the time to “step up to the
plate” and lend your support. The NIA shares our Club’s belief to enjoy and
preserve these cars, while fostering a Family friendly environment. That is
why it is most important for us to insure this is the best and most successful
convention yet, but once again, we need your help to accomplish this. A Convention
Update column will be in the newsletter, please read it and assist wherever
you can.
Our next meeting
will be held in Bordentown on Sunday, October 9th. If it is a nice day, please
consider cruising out in your Chevy so together we all can enjoy our cars before
the cold weather really sets in. We are still looking for a volunteer to pen
the “What cha workin’ on” articles, and someone who may like to present a tech
seminar at November’s meeting. October’s meeting will also feature the first
round of nominations for the 012 Officer Board, so put on your thinking cap
and bring in your suggestions. Hope to see you there! Meantime-stay dry and
Keep ‘em Rollin’
Tom
