November 2011
President’s Message
Welcome autumn,
and all the beautiful colors and crisp weather that it has to offer. Some of
the landscapes here in Scenic Warren County are absolutely breathtaking this
time of year. We had the chance to enjoy some of these things this past weekend
during our joint club Fall Foliage Cruise with the Corvair club. We all met
up in Hackettstown in the morning, and then proceed to tour the countryside
stopping at Four Sisters Winery in Belvidere, NJ. The Corvair Club members are
a great bunch of car enthusiast, and we all enjoyed trading stories about our
cars. There were additional highlights to the tour, including lunch at Luigi’s
Rancho restaurant (a nice forties style establishment), a cruise past the Victorian
Mansions located on the square in Belvedere, a trip across the bridge into Pennsylvania
for some apple picking, concluding at a stop to enjoy some warm apple pie. We
enjoyed good participation from our members and their vehicles, and all told,
there were thirteen joint club cars on the tour. To be certain, it was a fun
family oriented day that was hard to beat. The President of the Corvair club
and I exchanged emails a few days after this event, recapping what a pleasure
it was interfacing and enjoying the perfect Fall day for this event.
NIA 012 Convention planning has been in full swing, including meetings and conference
calls managing the planning of this stellar event. At this juncture, we have
a park selected for the picnic, nailed down some of the daily activities including
a daytrip to Ocean City, NJ, and the feasibility of trips to a water park and
inner city Philly. Dawn Dennery has created an event flyer, which is available
to members electronically or in hard copy at the meetings. Everything considered,
we are moving along quite nicely on this.
Remember, the next
meeting at the Bordentown center will be held on November 13. Please come out
and join us and see your friends. It is nominations time for the Club officers,
so think about your choices and come propose them at the meeting.
It’s time to get
your Chevy’s ready for Old Man Winter, so be certain to check your Anti-freeze
protection levels and get those battery trickle charges ready. We are still
seeking folks that are interested if presenting Tech sessions, so if you are
so inclined please contact me. We would love to have something like this at
the Winter meetings. Don’t forget December’s meeting will be elections and a
seasonal celebration meeting. Please consider a covered dish, or a personal
culinary specialty you can bring to the meeting to share with others.
That’s all for now,
Keep ‘em Rollin”
Tom
