President’s Message

At last month’s meeting, nominations for club officer positions were held. Mike Berry has been our nomination clerk in the past but since he had other business to attend to, John Lucas graciously accepted the task. And since Mike was not in attendance, he was nominated for President. See what happens when you don’t attend a meeting? Some of you may not know, but Mike previously has been in the top position and had done an outstanding job. Also nominated for President is our current Vice President, Tom Merring, who was also nominated for the VP position along with Jim Thackeray. The other nominees were Dawn Dennery for Secretary, Verne Frantz for Treasurer and Al Bernotas for Sergeant at Arms. And who knows, there may be a third person nominated for Vice President. Get your campaign speeches ready! You’ll have to show up at the next meeting to hear it in person. Good luck everyone!

Is it time to winterize your ride? Personally, I don’t because I drive mine year-round, weather permitting of course and as long as the roads aren’t covered in that white stuff that our great state applies in over abundance. But that’s another story for another time. Even if it’s 20 degrees, I’ll take both of my rides out for an hour’s ride on a Sunday afternoon. Probably the most anyone ever does is disconnect the battery and those who don’t sometimes find themselves with a dead battery in the spring. But what about placing the car on a large sheet of heavy plastic, placing jack stands under the four control arms, changing the oil, topping off the gas tank, waxing all the painted and chrome surfaces, plugging up the tailpipes with steel wool and covering the car with a ‘breathable cover’. Some people even put a thin sheet of plastic over the cover which will prevent dust from penetrating the cover. You’ll have to determine if all of the above will be required. If it’s a damp storage area, maybe a de-humidifier is in order. The more you do now, the less you’ll need to do in the spring.

The Christmas Buffet is scheduled for December 12th at our meeting in Bordentown. Dawn is keeping track of who is bringing what to eat. Please don’t wait. Call Dawn now and she’ll tell you what is still needed to make this a great buffet.
