Our club meeting was held on May 10, 2014 at our annual
picnic. Unfortunately it was not a perfect day as far as the weather, with a
little rain in the afternoon. But we had the best part of the good weather earlier
and all had a very good time. As always lots of food, fun, music by Steve and
lots of conversation. The Core Creek Park was an excellent location thanks to
Jim and Karen Thackeray. It was easy to get to for everyone. Just want to also
say a big thank you to Lew Thackeray for taking on the chair of this event.
Everyone agreed we should book this park again for next year’s picnic well in
advanced. We were in pavilion # 5, and if we book early we can possibly have
a pavilion with electric. A good time was had by all who attended.
All of the members know about the Bordentown Chevrolet Dealership display on
May 31, 2014 form 11AM to 2 PM. You may not get this newsletter until after
the date, however if it does rain on May 31, the rain date is June 7, 2014.
So you just might get another chance to display your classic Chevy. We just
have to wait and see. Hope I see you all there.
Reminder no monthly meetings for June, July and August, therefore mark your
calendars for September 14, 2014, 5PM at Bordentown Community Center. In the
meantime we will keep you abreast of club activities in our monthly newsletter.
June 14, 2014 is the Drive –In Cruise. John Lucas has reserved 6 rooms at the
Allenwood Hotel. When you call to book a room, say you are with the Jersey Late
Greats. If you are not going to stay at the hotel everyone who is going to the
Drive - In will meet at 5:30 - 6:00 PM at the Allenwood Hotel and cruise all
together to the Drive – In so we can all park together. The movie starts at
7PM. It’s only a short distance from the Hotel. Check the flyer information
within this newsletter.
Let’s make the GM Nationals /NIA Regional meet at Carlisle a big turn out on
June 20 to June 22, 2014. Needed 25 cars to participate and register. Contact
Mike Berry and also check this newsletter for more information. Mike told us
about the Holiday Inn Express which is 30 miles south on RT 81 for $104.00 a
night if all other hotels are full.
The National NIA Convention is July 20- July 25 in Iowa. Mike Berry said the
Host Hotel is booked, therefore you will have to search out another hotel if
you plan on attending.
Verne Frantz spoke about a Wheel and Cap Guide which he is writing for 61-64
Chevy’s. He will be working on this with Leigh Humphreys & anyone who might
be interested in helping. Contact Verne.
Request, any member who has T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, Jackets, please make a list
of inventory as to what exactly you have by size. If we get this information
into our newsletter someone may want to purchase one of these items. Also we
