June 2012
President’s Message
Hey to all you out there in Chevy land, hope you’ve been out
cruising in your Late Great and taking full advantage of this beautiful weather!
We just held our annual picnic at Mercer County Park, and what a success it
was. We had close to 20 vintage rides turn out and the weather was spectacular.
Thanks to all who attended-it was a very nice social gathering. Special thanks
go out to Geri Thackeray for managing the food at this event, what an excellent
job she did! Additionally, I would like to thank James Brussel for making the
facility arrangements, Al Bernotas for insuring all the Burgers and Hot Dogs
were cooked to perfection and Steve Calandra for insuring that our ears were
tuned in to some of the best music ever.
Congratulations and appreciation goes out to the Dennery’s, as they accepted
an award for their consistent outstanding efforts to provide stellar events
for the rest of their Club Members to enjoy. We held a brief meeting, in which
we discussed many items; one of those was a plea for Folks to support a booth
at the GM nationals at Carlisle on June 23-25. We have an opportunity to hand
out flyers promoting this year’s 012 NIA convention. The Carlisle Folks who
sponsor this event have invited us to advertise and get the word out regarding
the upcoming convention. We need some Volunteers for this, so please contact
Mike Berry if you will be out there and are interested. The Spotlight cars for
this year’s GM Nationals will be “W” Motor cars-so it fits right in with our
Convention and I suspect it will be a great advertising opportunity.
The clock is ticking-the 012 NIA Convention is a mere two months away! The JLG
Convention Committee Folks have been hard at work-finalizing arrangements and
insuring our accommodating facilities and plans are ready to go. Our next meeting
on June 10th at 12PM will be held at the Mt Laurel Wyndham Hotel. This meeting
will enable attending members the opportunity to see the convention facility
and become familiar with the landscape. Hope to see you all there, and if the
weather’s nice, by all means, I invite you to bring out your Chevys and show
your colors!
Keep ‘em Rolling,
Tom
