January 2014
President’s Message
From: Tom,
Happy New Year and a very happy wintertime to all. December’s meeting featured
a nice buffet style cover dish dinner which was enjoyed by all those brave enough
to attend. Thank you to those hearty members who refused to let the weather
conditions spoil their Social Schedules. During the meeting, we solidified the
2014 Calendar of events and it holds some very promising activities. Before
go on, I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank the 2013 Board
Members- Frank Visco, Al Bernotas, Maureen Humphries, and Verne Frantz. They
have done an outstanding job and should be commended for all that they do to
support our club. Fortunately, they will be your new 2014 Board, led by a new
President-Lydia Schmidt. Lydia brings with her great enthusiasm and confidence
in the future of our Club. She has some excellent ideas and I hope you will
welcome her fresh agenda for the club and support her as all of you have supported
me in the past. Now on to our to our new President’s message - WELCOME LYDIA!
Keep ‘em Rollin’ Tom
From: Lydia,
Here we go a new year and a new President. Following Tom Merring as President
is not going to be easy. Tom has done a wonderful job as president for 3 years.
You have bestowed upon me your confidence to be your president for 2014. I accepted
this position and hopefully in time I will have the same confidence in myself.
I am a new member of only 3 years, being your president is quite an honor for
me. I will do my best for the "Late Greats"
Our December Christmas buffet meeting scheduled for December 8 was cancelled
due to inclement weather; however we managed to go forward with the meeting
on December 15, 2013. To all who could not make the meeting we want you to know
we missed you all, and we missed the food you were going to bring! ? We did
have a small number of members and managed to enjoy the buffet, although small
- but delicious. To all members I hope you had a wonderful happy holiday, wishing
all a great new year in 2014.
It would be a better year in 2014 if you could find time to come
to our monthly meetings and give us your input and ideas; the club cannot do
it with only a handful of members at the meetings. I would love to see more
of every member, our membership total stands at 63. It would be nice to see
some new faces and a full room at our meetings, so please try your best to come
out and join us.
Keep your calendar open for year 2014 club events such as the: Club Picnic in
May, the banquet in February, Dennery's picnic and the Junkyard Run to name
a few.
This year the National Impala convention will be in July 2013 the 21st to 25th
in Okoboji, Iowa. Mark your calendar, and make your plans now to attend. We
have some members planning to make the trip. Come to a meeting so you may work
on this endeavor alongside of them.
All these events need planning on everyone's part and participation. so come
out and enjoy the fun and camaraderie at these family events.
January’s meeting is just around the corner- plan the evening to join with fellow
members of the "Late Greats"
Start Your Engines,
Lydia
