Here we are in February already. On behalf of the Board,
let me wish you a belated Happy and Healthy New Year. The Board of Directors
is the same for 2017 but with one addition. Please welcome Dawn Dennery as Secretary
In 2016 we had some great tech sessions and remote meetings. The December Holiday
Gala was a great success, with over 20 members and a couple of guests in attendance.
A big “thanks” to Lydia for organizing the pass the gifts games. We all enjoyed!
The Board of Directors and our Advisory staff, including Lydia Schmidt, Mike
Berry, John Lucas, and Tom Merring, are working on the 2017 schedule of events,
including tech sessions here and remote, and remote meetings. Let Mike Berry
or me know if you have any suggestions.
On February 18th we will have our Annual Banquet. Complete information is contained
in this newsletter. The February 12th membership meeting is cancelled. We will
have a short meeting prior to the start of the banquet as we did last year.
When was the last time you attended a Jersey Late Great banquet? If it has been
a while, please plan on attending this year. The facility is great, of course
the food is great, and we’ve added a new attraction this year. If you have ever
been on the receiving end of a John Dennery banquet award, we ask that you bring
it to this year’s banquet as we are going to relive the years gone by. To help
us visualize the past awards, Mike Berry will have a slide show of past events.
Perhaps this year, John will be on the receiving side of a banquet award.
I have been in contact with Eastwood in Pottstown, PA (about 73 miles from Hightstown)
about them doing a tech session for us in March. It would be at their location
on a Saturday morning. There would be a number of mini sessions on such subjects
as welding, powder coating, patch panels, painting, and rust prevention. We
would then tour their facilities and of course, visit their retail store. It
should be a great day. I have also been talking with Joe DiNoia about doing
a tech session at the community center after a membership meeting or at his
shop in South Jersey. Let us know if you have an idea for a tech session or
a remote location (can be none care related) that would be of interest. Last
year we had two new members join and one member rejoin after many years of being
away. Although the JLG is strong, with 53 members, we could always use a couple
of new ones.
