February 2011

President’s Message

Happy New Year to all, and welcome to 2011. It’s hard to believe its 2011; I had a difficult enough time with writing the year “2000” 11 years ago-LOL. It is also hard to believe that next year the Jersey Late Greats will be celebrating its 30th anniversary! In addition to that, the Club has been offered the unique opportunity to host the 2012 National Convention-what better way to celebrate thirty years of dedication to our Club and our Chevy’s? However, before we can accept this offer from the NIA, we must insure that we have enough club members’ support and participation. Maureen Humphreys and Mike Berry were the Co-Chairpersons of the ’05 convention which was a huge success. Fortunately, Mike has saved his notes from then and we are formulating a list of most of the necessary tasks it will take to support this convention. There will be a new Column in the JLG’s newsletter, pertaining to the Convention and edited by Mike Berry. It is imperative that we get enough support from the membership, or we will not be able to commit to the NIA. I am encouraging each member to contact Mike Berry before Sunday February 6, 2011 to volunteer for one of the tasks that Mike has listed in the convention article. If we do not receive enough responses by then, I am not certain we can proceed. So please, contact Mike today, this is a great opportunity to have some fun and also to allow NIA to grab a foothold in the Northeast. This will be the first National convention they have held in this region, and it promises to be a membership recruitment proposition for the JLGs.

On another note, Our JLG Banquet is almost here. By now, you should have been contacted regarding this, please do not wait if you are interested in attending and RSVP as soon as possible. You may contact Dawn Dennery with any questions. While we are on the subject, please contact John Dennery with any Dennery Awards ideas you may have. This is always a banquet highlight, so if you have something amusing to share, please call John while it’s fresh on your mind.

Hope that your Chevy is nice and warm through these cold winter months; personally I can’t wait to drive mine again. It’s only late January and already I have a bad case of Cabin Fever. Why not come to the next meeting and share the things you are doing for your ride this winter? The next meeting is February 13th, at the Bordentown Community Center. Hope to see you there!

Keep ‘em Rolling
Tom
