December 2011
President’s Message
Happy Holidays to All! The Season to be jolly is upon us,
please take a moment to be thankful for all the Family and good times that go
along with it. Personally, I will be taking the family out in “Flatty” for an
old time cruise to view all the neighborhood holiday light displays. Love doing
that, as it is reminiscent of my childhood days. Now on to Club events and activities;
Our next meeting will be held on December 11th, which traditionally we celebrate
the Season with a covered dish banquet. It’s always a good time seeing what
folks have cooked up to tickle our taste buds. Why not make your plans to come
out and bring your favorite dish and join in on the festivities. This meeting
we will also hold Club Officer Elections, so please come out and cast your vote-it’s
YOUR club!
Our last meeting included a whole lot of discussion regarding the NIA 012 convention,
the plans are moving forward and the National Association has been promoting
it in emails. We already have the Hotel locked down, have located a Park for
our picnic, and are working on the artwork for the T shirts. The Club Convention
Committee has been aggressively working on the other crucial details it will
take to make this a class event. The commitment is there, all we need now is
you to contact Mike Berry and see what activities you can volunteer for to support
what promises to be the best convention to date. This will be the first NIA
convention held in the North Eastern region of the US, our thoughts are that
given the dense population in this area it will be the best attended in NIA
history. Once again, we need your help to support this to insure its success.
There will be a Social Mixer, Car Show, Drag Races, Picnic and Seminars, a day
at the beach and a host of other fun activities. Don’t miss it!
We have already been working on events for next year’s calendar, and this coming
meeting will be focused on firming up the schedule. Please come out with your
suggestions for club activities for the coming year, that way we can discuss
and document them. It’s almost banquet time, which will be held in the month
of February. Time to put on the thinking caps and share your amusing him with
ample time to create this year’s “Dennery Awards”, always a banquet highlight.
It’s almost time to mothball those Chevys for the season, make certain you check
the antifreeze! That’s all for now, Ho, ho, ho, Santa drives a Late Great-I
just know it!
Keep ‘em Rolling
Tom
