Hi All JLG Members and Families,
Here it is August, indicating that summer is half over. Before you know it Labor
Day will be upon us, so get out and exercise those GREAT Chevy’s.
A BIG THANK YOU to Dawn, John and the newest member of their family, Airhead
Molly Beavis, for hosting the JLG club picnic. The day was a little warm but
no rain. We all had some great food with over a dozen different desserts. Our
own Steve Calandra provided music. It was a time to talk and relax with old
friends. Dawn has given us a more detailed article that appears in this issue.
The National Impala Convention took place in Spearfish, SD on July 17-21. Our
own Elaine and Mike Berry attended. Mike said it was a great convention in a
beautiful part of the country. They had over 80 cars with many 67s as it was
the 50th anniversary for this great model year. Mike will be providing us with
additional convention coverage and photos that that will appear in a future
issue of the newsletterThe Woodward Dream Cruise will be on August 17, 18 &
19th in the area around Detroit. The actual route of the show goes from Detroit
to Pontiac on Woodward Avenue, approximately 14 miles of events all day. This
year they estimate that there will be over 40,000 vehicles with over 1,000,000
spectators. JLG is always well represented and a pop-up is set up right on Woodward
Ave. This year there will be at least 10-12 members in attendance. A convoy
of JLG cars will make the trip including “Flatie”, so if you are thinking about
attending, contact Tom Merring for more information.
When school starts, so do our monthly meetings. Our first meeting will be on
September 10th and should prove to be an interesting one. Immediately following
the meeting there will be a Tech Session on “Oils”. There is a new rating system
that will be presented by a company rep, as arranged by Verne. Our October meeting
will feature a Tech Session on brakes, presented by Joe DiNoia. Let me or Mike
know if you have an idea or would like to present a Tech Session or you know
of aplace of interest to club members to have a remote meeting.
It’s your club and your support and ideas keep it active!
A safe Labor Day Weekend to you and your families!
Enjoy the ride in that Great Chevrolet!
