August 2012
President’s Message
Greetings! Hope your
summer is filled with fun times and treasured memories. The 012 NIA Convention
was a HUGE success, thank you to all our members who chipped in and supported
it. It was humbling and pride inspiring to see our members so involved in support
of our club and this event. Special thanks go out to the Convention Committee-Mike
Berry, Dawn Dennery, Verne Frantz, and Maureen and Leigh Humphries. They worked
diligently and many long hours to insure everything was planned and managed
properly and that those in attendance enjoyed a top shelf convention. This event
will be covered in a later newsletter issue.
One especially profound
event at the NIA convention was the announcement that Mike Berry would now be
the leader/owner of the National Impala Association. Please read more on this
in the NIA “Snap Shot” sent with this newsletter. We wish Mike all the best
regarding this new opportunity for him, I feel confident that he will exceed
expectations and accomplish success. We celebrated our club’s 30 Anniversary
at the convention; this gathering was lead by Vern Frantz who cited the clubs
accomplishments and past history. Jan Lucas made a delicious cake which contributed
to the festivities. It was interesting to see the enlarged copy of the first
Newsletter posted on the wall which highlighted how far advanced we have become
with the quality of that publication. Kudos to all our Newsletter Editors over
the years-Job well done! There is no scheduled meeting for August, the next
scheduled business meeting will be held at the Bordentown center on September
9th. However, we have two great events planned for this month. The Garvey Boats
Races on August 5th and the annual, ever popular, Dennery Picnic on the 25th,
located in Gloucester City, NJ. Please be certain to check out the details for
these events elsewhere in this issue, and don’t forget to RSVP to Dawn and let
her know that you will be attending! It’s an event that you won’t want to miss!
Some of our members
will also be traveling on August 16th to Detroit for the famous Woodward Avenue
Dream Cruise, returning home on Sunday August 19th. If you have any interest
in joining this long haul cruise, please contact Jim Brussel for details. This
is always a fun filled event, and you never know what kind of strange or collectible
vehicle you will see riding the streets of the Motor City.
That’s all for now
and as the songs says- See you in September.
Keep ‘em Rollin’
Tom
