As I write this on Saturday morning, I can’t help but feel
slightly jealous of my buddies that are attending the annual junkyard run today
in Pine Grove, PA. I couldn’t attend as a foot disorder has left me on crutches
for a few days, which really aren’t conducive to be looking for parts or that
special wall art. The event usually starts with a few members arriving at the
motel early to “pre game” and then on to dinner at a local restaurant/bar. Saturday
morning, everyone meets at a diner for breakfast then it’s on to the junkyard.
I’m wondering how many guys our resident club photographer, will catch on film,
Mike Berry, taking a morning nap on the hood of an old Chevy? This is always
a great event and should not be missed. Check out the Junk Yard photos in this
month’s newsletter (Thanks Mike!)

Wondering “ Where is J.B. ??? ”
At last month’s meeting, Mike Berry, John Dennery and Verne
Frantz brought some very interesting display items for Automobilia night. Some
very nice pieces of Chevrolet history accessories were on display. The weather
is getting nicer and I imagine quite a few of us are bringing their cars out
of winter hibernation and getting them ready for the season. I for one, need
to replace the water pump on the Nova, John Lucas is replacing the timing chain/gear
and also will be installing a newly rebuilt water pump for his 348. Tom Merring
also has resolved a fuel delivery problem on his El Camino. There’s no time
like the present to attend to the things that will prevent you from enjoying
your ride.
Don’t forget our annual JLG picnic is on May 9 at the Mercer
County Park. We have an area to ourselves with an adjacent road where Verne
conducts the car games. Advance Auto Parts in East Windsor is sponsoring the
prizes for the second year in a row for the winners of the car games. Come on
out and test your “blind” driving skills. Each member usually contributes something
towards the picnic, either food, salads or deserts. If you’re planning on attending,
please give Maureen Humphreys or myself a call so that we don’t have an excessive
amount of any one item. The Multi-Club Picnic Flyer and Directions are in this
Newsletter.
Also, the April meeting will be held on Saturday because of
Easter Sunday. This will be our last meeting for the season so keep checking
the newsletter for any updates on the planned events. Instead of the meeting
schedule picking up October as we did last year, it was decided to restart our
monthly meetings in September.
