April 2011
President’s Message
Once again, hurry Spring!!! This winter has been a real challenge,
what with colder than normal temps and high heater fuel costs. I think we are
all ready for some sunny skies and warmer weather. Let’s hope that comes sooner
than expected! Our plans to host the National Convention are moving along, we
are currently searching for possible locations to hold this prestigious event.
The Dennerys and Thackeray’s are on the quest and have already reported some
prospective locations. We are currently in the research phase which is planned
to be concluded by late April. We will keep you all posted regarding the process
of selection as it develops.
This past weekend was our annual Junkyard trip, and as you can see from the
photos we all had a nice time. A BIG thanks goes out to Mike Berry, for his
diligent efforts in coordinating this year’s event. The yard was loaded with
cars from the 50’s on up, and it’s always fun to walk through the yard and imagine
them back in the day. One particular favorite of mine that Mike directed me
to was a turquoise on turquoise 1960 Impala sport sedan-no surprise there! We
were even joined by Scott Haring, this year’s long distance award winner from
the great state of Ohio. That you to all the members that braved the chilling
wind and the long drive, it was a great event.
Be certain to check out the Club items page, we have a nice denim club shirt
to offer if you care to order one which looks smart and presents itself well.
Thanks to Dawn Dennery for making this happen, she is a true asset to the Club!
Our next big non-meeting event will be the Club Picnic on May 14th, be certain
to call Gerry Thackeray and tell her what cover dish you will be bringing. I
just wanted to personally thank Gerry for managing this project again this year.
This is always a well attended and fun club event, so please make your plans
to attend.
Please don’t forget, that the next meeting on April 10th will be the last regularly
scheduled meeting until September of this year. Why not make plans to come out
to this one and bring your car, the weather should be co-operating and it’s
a great excuse to drive your Chevy.
That’s about all for now, hope to see you all soon at the meeting. Until then,
Keep those Chevys Rollin’!
Tom
